How to knit jogless stripes in the round

I love knitting in the round – it’s seamless, it’s knit only, and it makes great beanies and gloves.

But stripes! Stripes can be a problem.

So here’s a quick tutorial on how to knit without ‘jogs’ or jumps in the round.

  1. Knit one row in new colour

Finish off your row in the previous colour

Work one row in new colour, as normal

2. At the end of the row, pick up the stitch of the old colour and put it up on the needle

3,. K these two together.

4. Continue as normal.

This is very useful for items like my Dr Seuss beanie! As you can see below, this is pretty much seamless and creates a very smooth transition.
